M. Joy Weinstein, V.M.D. was born and raised in Lakewood, New Jersey. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Dr. Weinstein graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 1983. She completed a Small Animal Surgery residency at Tufts University/ Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in 1988. The residency training was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Orthopedic Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Weinstein was an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1990-1994. She was staff surgeon at Shrewsbury Animal Hospital from 1994 until 2003. Dr. Weinstein has served as the President of the Jersey Shore Veterinary Medical Association for the past 6 years. She also served as the Chairperson of the Eastern Veterinary Orthopedic Society. Dr. Weinstein's primary interests are in lameness evaluation, orthopedic surgery, and surgical oncology. Dr. Weinstein joined the team in October 2003.
