Welcome to Alma '55! A beautifully styled mid-century modern home located in Yucca Valley, California. With a privately fenced yard, you'll enjoy the desert landscape with a cabana and pool to enjoy outdoors and a comfortable home to relax in throughout your entire stay.

You're just about 18 minutes from Joshua Tree Park's west entrance, and only 15-25 minutes away from other local attractions such as Pappy and Harriet's and Giant Rock.

The Space
Originally built in 1955, Alma '55 reflects the history of the mid-century wave of modern design brought to the California desert. During your stay, you'll enjoy an open connected living room to kitchen with plenty of golden sunlight throughout.

In the main space, enjoy your time spent together with plenty of comfortable seating and authentic vintage pieces with the Preway fireplace and Bang and Olufson turntable. There is a large leather couch and two 70's Togo designed chairs to relax in. Enjoy watching movies on a larger screen with a projector and Apple TV or quality time over a game of chess or Scrabble.

The kitchen provides ample counter space, all newly updated appliances and is fully stocked with your basic kitchen tools and necessities.

With 2 bedrooms, the home comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests, furnished with ultra-comfortable cooling hybrid memory foam-spring mattresses and 100% percale weave, 200 thread count cotton bed linens. In the primary bedroom, we provide a king bed and in the guest bedroom, we have a queen bed. Our 100% blackout curtains in the bedrooms will also block out the bright morning sun for those wanting to sleep in.

The bright sunlit bathroom features two free-standing basins and a large walk in shower. For additional convenience and comfort, we’ll be providing robes for our guests as well as bath product from Public Goods.

Just as importantly as the interior, we'd like for you to also enjoy the desert landscape outdoors.

Our main outdoor feature is our cabana which will provide you shade during the peak sunny hours of the day. After taking a dip in the pool, you can lounge in the cabana or decompress with yoga with mats provided. The cabana / pool area is also where you can enjoy a game of pétanque and rinse off with the outdoor shower during the day or roast s'mores under the stars at night.

For outdoor meals, we also have a BBQ and table setup in the backyard under string lights.
Guest access
You'll have access to the entire home. This will include the cabana and pool area, back patio, and the full privately fenced yard.

Other things to note
In an effort to maintain a secure premises, the our home is equipped with four exterior cameras and privacy fencing along the perimeter lines. The cameras are ONLY on the exterior, and there are no cameras on the inside.

House Rules

The first rule is that you are able to enjoy yourself and relax! We set up our property as a place where you can find peace and tranquility without any added stress. Second, we also want the guests who come after you to be able to enjoy themselves and relax, and request that you leave our home in a condition that honors the space, our neighbors, our housekeeper and those who visit after you leave.

Please, no extra guests, parties or events. Our max occupancy is 4 adults. Any additional guests who visit, whether during the day or staying overnight, will incur a fee to your reservation. We have this rule in place only to be mindful of the additional noise for our neighbors and the added cleanup that affects our cleaner.

If you would like to invite a massage therapist or yoga instructor, we would be happy to assist in accommodating one of these services for you.

This is a smoke-free home. We'd like to keep the home free of pollutants. Any sign of smoking inside the home will incur the fees it will cost us to get unwanted smoke out of our home and any clean up. If we have to cancel the next guest due to the smell of any type of smoke, you will be charged for their stay.

We are no longer accepting reservations with pets. If you bring a pet with you during your stay, you will be charged a $150 fee.

If you break something or you damage anything in any way, please send me a message so that I can have it replaced or repaired for the next guests. If it is something significant you will be charged a fee comparable to the current value of the damage.

Please closely watch your children around the desert foliage outdoors and around the pool.

If you need to reset the breaker, it is located outside on the side of the house next to the kitchen window (the side of the house that's facing the cabana area). The water emergency shut off valve is located in the front yard outside in a green circular housing box in the ground (about 100 feet from the front door).

Located in Yucca Valley, this vacation home is in a rural area. Noah Purifoy Foundation and Noah Purifoy's Outdoor sculpture Museum are cultural highlights, and travelers looking to shop may want to visit Joshua Tree Certified Farmers' Market and Pioneertown. Hi-Desert Nature Museum and Hi-Desert Cultural Center are also worth visiting. Explore all the area has to offer with hiking/biking trails, rock climbing, and horse riding.
