This contemporary, detached house is a charming combination of modern with rustic touches. The house sleeps 5 people and makes a great holiday option for a family or friends who want to escape into nature. It is in Cerknica in southwestern Slovenia, a region known for its stunning countryside and wildlife.

The ground floor consists of a spacious open-plan living area with wooden floors throughout. It is full of light thanks to large windows which look out over the garden towards the lake and mountains. The large sofa faces a modern, wood-burning stove. There is a flat-screen TV and a small children’s table with a stool for activities. The space is L-shaped and the dining table and chairs are around the corner in the newly-fitted kitchen area. The smart kitchen is well-equipped with a cooker hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and Dolcegusto coffee machine.

The private garden is built into the hillside and has a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. There is a terrace with 2 sun loungers where guests can relax in peace. There is also a covered dining area for meals al fresco.

Sleeping
Tucked under the eaves is the master bedroom. It is furnished with a double bed and a single bed.
Extra: The sofa in the living room converts into a comfortable double bed.

Location
The house is on the hillside looking over a completely unspoiled landscape, of open flood plains which are transformed into wide Lake Cerknica, with a backdrop of dramatic mountains. In the wet season, Lake Cerknica can grow as large as 40km2. The area, known as the Notranjski Park, has many hiking and cycling trails which allow visitors to explore the pristine nature. It is the habitat of lynx, bears and wolves as well as being a popular destination for bird watchers.

The Krizna Jama cave complex (12 minutes) is made up of 22 underground lakes connected by waterways. Visitors explore the caves in kayaks, a magical experience. There is so much to see in do on your doorstep.

For shopping, the town of Cerknica is just 10 minutes away. Here guests can find a supermarket and smaller grocery stores.

Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana (50 minutes) makes a fascinating day trip. It is a small city packed with history. A tour of its medieval castle is not to be missed. Neither is a visit to the Central Market where you can find fresh local produce and regional delicacies.

Ljubljana International Airport is a 1 hour and 10 minutes away.
