As you step through the clock vine lined front gate of this remarkable cliff side home, the sea is your backyard and the 40 acre nature preserve is your neighbor. The Retreat has two suites (master suite and mini suite, each with it’s own bath) and a loft with two twin beds for additional guests, making this home perfect for multiple couples and families. The spectacular two-story living room has floor to ceiling windows facing the ocean, which makes this Don Petersen designed home truly unique.
Enjoy your morning coffee while watching the sun rise and have breakfast on the patio while the boats set sail and schools of dolphins pass by. While sunbathing or barbecuing you will have the company of pelicans who drift by at eye level as they ride the ocean thermals. Take a walk in the neighboring nature preserve and/or nap on the private ocean front patio. Looking down the coastline you will see the Santa Barbara Channel Islands spread across the horizon. Looking up the coast you will see the UCSB campus and it’s iconic Stork tower landmark approximately 10 miles in the distance. Sunsets are simply breathtaking, and as you sip a glass of wine and watch the sun dip below the horizon you will feel a renewed sense of calm. After a night out at one of the many nearby restaurants or enjoying an evening downtown on State Street you can return to your private Jacuzzi and relax while you watch the sparkling stars. Retire to your bedroom and blissfully fall asleep to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach below.
Located in Santa Barbara’s Mesa neighborhood, The Retreat has beach access and is just a five minute walk to the Mesa beach steps- and yet it is just a two minute drive (or an easy walk) to Mesa shops and restaurants, including multiple grocery stores and Starbucks.
Downtown is a quick eight minute drive where you will enjoy State Street, wine tasting, the pier, shopping, restaurants, the Zoo and the famous Santa Barbara Mission. The Santa Barbara Retreat is the ideal place to take advantage of the best that Santa Barbara has to offer.
Located near the beach, this vacation home is in The Mesa, a neighborhood in Santa Barbara. Hill-Carrillo Adobe and Casa de la Guerra are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Santa Barbara Harbor and Stearns Wharf. Check out an event or a game at Santa Barbara Bowl, and consider making time for Santa Barbara Zoo, a top attraction not to be missed.
