4 Br Private Vacation Home Vacation Rental In Wintergreen Resort, Virginia

We are dog lovers with Australian Shepherds! Before we moved to the mountains full-time and would visit, we would always try to find a place that isn't crowded where our dogs can run off-leash. By booking Still Shamokin you have the ability to bring your well-behaved dogs to our 80-acre farm Located in Roseland, 10 minutes from Devil's Backbone (20 min from rental). They can run, swim in the creek, hike, and just relax while you enjoy a picnic. Since we reside on part of the property- this is booked outside of the rental listing. A specific time is booked. No crowds and incredible views and only open to renters of Still Shamokin!

Our home is a 4 bedroom; with one of the rooms being an enclosed loft with futon. The home has 2 full bathrooms and boasts a first-floor open concept designed for family and comfort. It includes a dining area with an antler chandelier, an open kitchen with 3 bar stools, and a large living room with a leather sofa that comfortably seats 6-to 8. It is decorated with a family cow rug that is over 50+ years old.

The home has wifi and smart TV's in each bedroom with a large-screen TV for the family room. High-speed fiber internet with Firefly (1GBS)

The wood stove heats the entire home and in the winter the baseboards are often not needed if the fire is maintained late into the night. The home has two window AC units for the very rare occasion it is warmer than 70 degrees at night in the dead of summer. The weather is always about 15 degrees cooler than in the valley. Another reason summer is one of our favorite times on the mountain! Cool evening air!

There are two first-floor bedrooms. One with 2 bunks that are custom and made from steel to support adults with an old snowboard made into a bench. A large screen TV that pulls forward and tilts so all the kids can watch! The second room has a king bed. Both bedrooms have large double windows to enjoy the mountain scenery. The first-floor bathroom is a full bath with a shower/tub.

Upstairs has a master bedroom with a king bed that has a firm mattress and a 2" gel memory foam topper. The loft has a door into the room and then barn doors over the loft balcony so the room can be made private. It includes a
full-size futon, a desk for work, and is full of games, books, and a small TV! The upstairs also has a full shower/tub bathroom.

Outside the home has a large wrap-around deck with Edison lights that softly light up your evening under the stars. It also has built-in seating, a table and chairs, comfortable outdoor furniture for afternoon naps, and a 6-person hot tub. There is a gorgeous ridge-line sunrise in the fall/winter months (see in the photo). When it gets cold, we provide a heated mat walkway from the front door to the hot tub. They also melt the snow!

Our backyard is fenced with a pea stone area that includes a hammock so you can relax and take a few breaths of mountain air that soothes the soul. The deck has a gate that makes the entire deck and yard fenced.

In the Spring/Summer the neighborhood pool is within walking distance (can be seen from the back of the house). There is also a play area for kids along with a picnic area at the pool. Guests can use the pool with our guest passes (time of day may vary).

During the Ski Season, our home is a 2-mile drive to the Mountain Inn. If you are a more advanced skier you can access the lifts at Upper Wild Turkey by The Overlook Condos and park across the street in the open lot by Wintergreen Spa. This is less than 1 mile away from our home and avoids the traffic!

Our home is within walking distance (a hike of a few miles round trip) to the gorgeous Shamokin Waterfalls, hence the name "Still Shamokin", not to be confused with a house that allows smoking. STRICTLY- No smoking allowed! Easily hop on the AT from the same trailheads! Wintergreen has many hikes for all levels to enjoy.

The driveway accommodates 4 cars plus street parking (street parking is not advised in winter months due to snow clearing on the roads)

Located in Chestnut Springs, a neighborhood in Roseland, this vacation home is in the mountains. Shenandoah National Park and Rockfish Gap Entrance Shenandoah reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Wildlife Center of Virginia and War Fields. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
