In the country, yet short drives to many of the most quaint Hudson Valley towns. Still, we hear many guests say they have a hard time leaving the space .... so beware!
You can use our sweet-spot as the sleep & cook spot for outdoor sporty adventure or stay and lounge for a serene escape. Plenty of folks come to our barn to sit by the fireplace and write!
The barn was reclaimed and reconfigured from a tumbledown but picturesque outbuilding. The interior was designed, built and furnished by the owners, who live in the farmhouse next door. (See photos for proximity). Lovely open spaces are seamlessly connected with many smaller nooks, which create privacy amidst the flowing open design.
The barn accommodates five guests. There are three queen beds and one pull-out sofa. One queen-sized daybed and the sofa-bed are in the living/fireplace room. The other upstairs bedroom can be closed off. The downstairs bedroom with one queen, provides greater privacy.
Well behaved, quiet dogs (2 max) are allowed and need to noted and paid for when booking. We provide some firewood (enough for 3-4 fires). Beyond that we charge a wood refill fee.
Before booking VRBO will present our "house rules" which you will be asked to agree to before paying. Most importantly for us are noise considerations - for us and our neighbors. No partying or heavy drinking at all. The maximum number of guests is limited to the number entered during the reservation. The base price is for 2 guests. Lastly, photo, film shoots, or other commercial activity are not permitted unless a negotiated price has been established and paid prior to arrival. Located in Red Hook, this vacation home is in a rural area. Montgomery Place and Clermont State Historic Site are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Lake Taghkanic State Park and New Forge State Forest. Traveling with kids? Consider The Stissing Center and Northern Dutchess Botanical Gardens.
