Tucked away in a quiet corner of the lake, Claytor Lake Hideaway sits on a small bluff overlooking the water. Early risers can enjoy the sunrise from the double-decker dock, while night owls will enjoy the cozy fire pit beside the house. Enjoy the lake views while relaxing or dining on the screened-in back porch. You’re only 10 minutes from the interstate, but, as the name implies, you’ll feel like you’re deep in the woods.
Stay a week and explore the New River Valley - you're only 15 minutes to access on the 55 mile scenic New River Trail (biking and hiking trail), 15 minutes to the Draper Village (restaurant, tea room, eclectic shopping, bike rentals, massage therapy, agritourism), 25 minutes to Foster Falls State Park (horseback riding, kayak/canoe access) and 15 minutes to Claytor Lake State Park (beach area, motorized boat rentals, easy hiking trails).
Virginia Tech is 35 min away, while Radford University is 25 min away.
Some notes:
- Parking: The driveway can accommodate four vehicles. If you have more, let us know and we can advise. Boat trailer parking will work if you don't have too many other cars. - Internet: Internet choices are limited due to the location. The house has a Verizon mobile jet pack hotspot. The cell signal varies day-to-day (ie, one day you might be able to stream a movie, and the next day not; speeds range from 10Mbps - 25+Mbps).
- Accessibility: The house is very accessible for those with mobility impairments, the dock however, is not. As you’ll see in the pictures, the house sits atop a steep hill overlooking the lake. The dock is reached via a staircase with 65 steps (see the video in the Photos section to watch the descent/ascent...it's really not that bad!). :-)
Located in Pulaski, this vacation home is in a rural area and on the waterfront. Thorn Spring Golf Course and Draper Valley Golf Club are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Claytor Lake State Park and Claytor Lake. Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley and Draper Mercantile are also worth visiting. Discover the area's water adventures with jet skiing and kayaking nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with hiking/biking trails and mountain biking.
