Playa El Coco is a short 30 min drive from popular San Juan Del Sur which boasts many fun bars, great dining options, a brewery, local supermarket, pharmacy, butcher, seafood market, and more. See our recommendations in our guidebook and pay particular attention to a local favorite homemade bread store where everything is baked fresh every morning!

If you need some necessities in between visits to town, Playa El Coco has two small stores with such staples as water, beer, wine, snacks, and basic toiletries for an economical price.
LOCATION

Playa El Coco is a place where you to get away from it all while still being close enough to town to enjoy the amenities on occasion. Just a peaceful beach, surrounded by nature, in a lovely tropical environment.

THINGS TO DO IN PLAYA EL COCO

BEACH FUN- swimming, sunbathing, and longs walks on the beach.

STARGAZING- bring a chair and sit out on the beach at night. You will be amazed at all of the stars you will see!

COCKTAIL HOUR & WATCH THE SUNSET- sunset hour in Playa El Coco is a very special time. Grab a chair and your favorite tropical cocktail and watch some legendary sunsets each night. Depending upon the season, you may even see whales or dolphins playing in the surf.

HIKING- there are plenty of hiking opportunities nearby that will take you to some additional beautiful and secluded beaches. Just be mindful of the tide!

LA FLOR TURTLE RESERVE- is just a 5-minute drive away, a 20-minute walk where you can observe the arribadas of Olive Ridley turtles.

The closest airport is Managua which is roughly a three-hour drive away. Several shuttle services depart from Managua to San Juan Del Sur daily and can be booked privately or with a group.

The additional airport near would be Liberia Costa Rica. Please keep in mind that to fly into Liberia you will need to go through the border crossing Penas Blancas and get a taxi or a shuttle from the border.

Car rental is available in both Managua and San Juan Del Sur.

THINGS TO NOTE:

-We do have a caretaker named Mario who lives on the backside of the property with his wife and son. Although they will give you your privacy, you may see them from time outside gardening. Mario's family has worked for us for almost fifteen years and are like family to us. They are there to help if you need anything.

-There is a dog that lives on the property named Palauche. He is very friendly and might stop by to see if he can get some belly rubs.

-Please be mindful and do not use the air conditioning if the doors or windows are open. We alllow 50 kwhs of electric usage per day - which is more than adequate if ac is not run with windows and doors open
