JEFFERSON, AR

Jefferson, also known as Jefferson Springs, is an unincorporated community in the Pine Bluff metropolitan area of northwestern Jefferson County in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The community is situated on the Union Pacific Railway (UP), northwest of Pine Bluff, the county seat. It is home to the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR).

Economy

Jefferson is home to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's NCTR and is co-located with the Office of Regulatory Affairs’ Arkansas Regional Laboratory. The Jefferson Laboratories campus sits on in the midst of a beautiful pine forest. NCTR is the only Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Center located outside the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The research campus plays a critical role in the missions of FDA and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to promote and protect public health.
