A 70 year old traditional Japanese townhouse located in well known downtown, Mukojima, Tokyo. The house belongs to my husband who spent his childhood there. We are university professors, and the house was too small for us to live with our three children and lots of books, so we have never lived there. After 30 years, I found it quite cool as it looked remaining very nostalgic, which brought me back to the nice and old days of Japan. Now it is very rare to find this kind in Tokyo.
The house was renovated nicely with its original taste. There are two bedrooms; one with a double bed and the other with two singles. The bedrooms on the second floor are floored with tatami mats. There are small but cozy living space and a kitchenette in the first floor. Bathroom with a bathtub and shower head. You will find the 'washlet' in WC.
Since the house was built right after WWII, everything is made small according to the Japanese people's frame at that time. If you are way taller than 6 feet, you may find it a bit close and uneasy.
Located in Sumida, a neighborhood in Tokyo, this vacation home is near theme parks and on a river. Sensoji Temple and Tokyo Imperial Palace are notable landmarks, and travelers looking to shop may want to visit Tsukiji Outer Market and Ginza Six. Check out an event or a game at Tokyo Dome, and consider making time for Tokyo Disneyland®, a top attraction not to be missed. Motor boating offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with cycling nearby.
