Some people have called this 'your grandma's cottage'. It is the classic H-plan with four bedrooms (2 are oceanfront) and 2 full baths all on one level. The ocean side deck is a screened in porch with four tall adirondack chairs and a table, as well as three rocking chairs. There is a lower deck that has an outside shower for rinsing off after your beach time or for enjoying the sunshine. The two oceanfront rooms have king beds and the two back bedrooms each have two full beds. All four bedrooms have wall mounted flat-screen tvs with Rokus for streaming or to watch cable. I limit occupancy to 8. Be advised that there is no sleeper sofa and no rollaway or trundle in the home, nor do I stock cribs or playpens for babies.

The living room has comfy slipcovered furniture and there is a large flat screen TV as well, with HD cable, a Roku, a blu ray player and a tv sound bar which has Bluetooth and can double as a music speaker. We have strong WiFi for all of your internet needs. The kitchen is equipped with the normal conveniences in addition to a VitaMix blender, a regular coffee maker, a Cuisinart toaster oven and a microwave. On the ground floor of the home is a laundry room that also has a full hot and cold water enclosed shower, a third toilet and a utility sink. I have this listed as a third bathroom on VRBO but it's really more of a last resort bathroom since it's on the ground floor.

Please note that between Memorial Day and Labor Day this is a 7 day, Saturday-to-Saturday only rental. Check in is typically 5pm Saturday with check out the following Saturday morning at 10 am. In March, April, May, September and October I may consider renting for periods less than or more than a week based on availability, or allowing early check in or late check out.

In addition to providing a competitive price I also try to stock some things that most rentals don't - namely toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, trash bags, dishwashing cleaner, and laundry detergent. I do my best to keep stock of these on hand all year but in the deep summer months availability may be limited or completely depleted so I cannot promise the house will be fully stocked with the previously mentioned items. But what's there you can use. Under the cottage is a large assortment of kids beach toys (buckets, shovels, sandcastle molds, etc) for your little ones to use, and boogie boards.

I do not provide linens or towels, or any beach items like chairs or umbrellas. Linens may be rented from any one of several local companies. The beds do, however, have pillows, quilts and blankets.

I have a local cleaning crew and handyman on the island, so you don't need to worry about anything if something comes up regarding a repair or cleaning issue. My response time, and theirs, if faster than any realty agency on the island. Be advised that I do require a signed rental agreement and a copy of your drivers license. These must be returned to me within 10 business days to avoid owner initiated cancellation.

There are three grocery stores within a 15 minute drive of the home (IGA on the island in Surf City, Food Lion on the mainland and Harris Teeter near Highway 17).

Located in Topsail Beach, this vacation home is on the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Surf City Beach and Holly Shelter Game Land, while Missiles and More Museum and Seacoast Art Gallery are cultural highlights. Topsail Skating Rink Topsail Beach and Thomas Tackle and Seafood are also worth visiting.
