Mainestay Cottage is the perfect, waterfront retreat after a day of exploring Ellsworth, Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park. This secluded, relaxing getaway is situated on a private road with amazing access and views of Taunton Bay. Morning coffee will taste better with incredible sunrise views from the upper deck!
The space
The generous, primary bedroom in the main house features a king bed, full bath with jacuzzi tub, wood burning stove and private deck. The second upstairs bedroom has a full bed, and twin with trundle. Downstairs, the back "fireplace room," has a full pullout couch, and twin daybed (a door provides privacy and many find it's the best place to sleep in the house!). The tub/shower bathroom is on the main floor.

Dining areas include tables in the kitchen, dining table (seating for 6), and outdoor patio table. Enjoy the bayfront views from the upper deck off the primary bedroom, swinging in the egg chair, and while sitting around the campfire.

The garage is set up as a rec area with basketball and mini pool/table tennis games. There are also 2 kayaks available for use.
**There is an option to add the apartment above the detached garage with king bed, pull out couch, and full bath to your stay (additional fee applies). Perfect for large groups and multi family stays. Message for more information.**
Other things to note
We've worked to create a space to relax, unplug, and comfortably enjoy the beautiful nature and views (from the large, water-facing windows!). As the cottage is located in rural, coastal Maine, WIFI options are limited and we've done our best to add this feature. While the home does have WIFI, please know in advance that the speeds are slow. Please reach out with any questions before booking!

Franklin is home to this cottage. Wild Mountain Man Ray's Chainsaw Show and Grand Theatre are cultural highlights, and travelers looking to shop may want to visit Sullivan Harbor Farm and L.L. Bean Shopping Outlet. Seacoast Fun Park and Downeast Scenic Railroad are also worth visiting.
