Obernai (German: Oberehnheim) is an Alsatian town and medieval city of about 11,000 inhabitants. Legendary birthplace of St. Odile, it is located 20 minutes southwest of Strasbourg and its international airport, and also 30 minutes from the German motorway between Frankfurt and Basel. Located on the wine road of Alsace, it is crossed by Véloroute the vineyards of Alsace (EuroVelo 5).
Obernai is the capital of the canton, which is composed of ten typical Alsatian towns like Krautergersheim (called the city sauerkraut). With five other villages, it also forms the community of the country of Sainte-Odile. In addition, Obernai is the second most visited city after Strasbourg, particularly for its beautiful timbered houses.
