Welcome to Mountain Lake Cottage located in a peaceful, family oriented community on White Oak Mountain. Relax on the porch overlooking the lake, a perfect spot for morning coffee or evening wine; gather around the gas fire pit on chilly nights for storytelling; take a walk through the woods where you'll find a canoe and kayaks to paddle around the lake. Kids of all ages will enjoy the game room which is outfitted with a smart TV, ping pong table, corn hole, and board games. Venture out to discover the area. IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE: VRBO has entered information into this listing that is INCORRECT. The travel times in the "Explore the Area" section are all incorrect. We cannot access this part of the listing to make corrections, and VRBO says that it is automatically entered and they cannot correct the errors either. If travel times are important for your rental decision, please check your GPS or Google Maps for accurate drive times. Also, there is no "arcade" at the property. If there is any detail that is vitally important to your stay here, please confirm it with us before booking. We are committed to accuracy in our listing, but the VRBO system has let us down.
Full Disclosure: The lake is small and per HOA guidelines neither fishing nor swimming is allowed.
The road: The main route up White Oak Mountain is steep, with several sharp turns, and at places close to the edge of the mountain which provides wonderful views but can be intimidating to those who are not used to mountain driving. Rest assured that it is a public road and there are hundreds of vehicles that use this road on a daily basis including large delivery trucks. There is an alternate route on the back side of the mountain that takes about five minutes longer, but you may find it less demanding. Have your GPS route you to Skyuka Mountain Road if you are concerned about the drive.
Located in Columbus, this cottage is in the mountains and on a lake. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Blue Wall Preserve and Bradley Nature Preserve at Alexander's Ford, while House of Flags Museum and Landrum Depot are cultural highlights. Traveling with kids? Consider Green River Adventures and Lake Lure Adventure Company. Discover the area's water adventures with kayaking and water tubing nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with cycling and ecotours.
