Although built in 1942, I am happy to say my lovely home has recently been updated into a more modern and comfortable dwelling. Situated on a large, private, totally fenced in lot, Mon Petit Plaisir offers lovely views from inside and plenty of outdoor seating areas to choose from while enjoying a morning cup of coffee, or sip an afternoon glass of wine, cocktail or mocktail. Anything refreshing and delicious will do.

Beautiful brickwork graces the northern courtyard. Quaint seating areas are spread throughout this spacious area of the property. The west side of the property also invites you into a classic Carmel stone courtyard with a charming fountain that can be appreciated from the large living room windows. I enjoy this area, as it’s also my Buddha garden. I hope you do, too.

Upon entering the home, to the left there is a beautiful breakfast room has been recently completed with limestone floors and a cozy banquette for dining. I hope you savour the incredible stained and leaded glass windows hand crafted and designed by a dear friend. The living room is positioned just next to the breakfast room. The living room has simple but rich decor that leaves you feeling relaxed and comfortable. Feel the cozy ambiance with the original, classic Carmel stone fireplace that can be enjoyed from both rooms. Off the living room, on the southeast side of the home, is a small, sweet, very functional kitchen that can handle all your food and beverage needs. Bright morning light accompanied by a view of a small garden and window boxes planted with fresh herbs are waiting for your enjoyment.

The cottage has two bedrooms. The upstairs bedroom and bath are en-suite with a plush king size bed clothed with clean, crisp linens. The bathroom has a spa like feel with a soaking bathtub and shower for ultimate relaxation. Natural light from the skylight above adds to the soothing atmosphere.
The downstairs bedroom has a beautiful queen size bed also clothed in crisp, clean linens. Just down the hall is the 2nd bath. Luxurious with its inviting, deep soaking bathtub with spray attachment. Both baths have been redone with vintage style tile floors giving them a bright, clean feel upon entering.

The laundry room can be accessed from outside on the east side of the house, just off the kitchen door. There is a stack washer and dryer to be used if needed. Also, on the east side of the home is a propane bbq/grill for your use.

My intention as with all of my design projects is to create an ever evolving home and garden. My philosophy is that a home should cradle its inhabitants. After exploring and experiencing all of the lovely things you have on your agenda, whether it’s a walk to unique downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, enjoying the incredibly beautiful, very nearby Carmel Beach, driving the Big Sur coast, wine tasting in Carmel Valley or the many other adventures the Monterey Peninsula offers, I want my guests to look forward to arriving to where they will lay their heads down at night. Mon Petit Plaisir is small in square footage, but it lives large.

It is my hope that you will find rest, relaxation, coziness and comfort when you stay. Whether reading a book, listening to music, preparing something delicious to eat or drink, or just basking in the peace that comes from doing nothing in a beautiful space, I have tried to create that space for you to savour the lovely moments and to feel beautiful……Because that is what life is all about. =

Northeast Carmel, a neighborhood in Carmel, is home to this vacation home. Pebble Beach Golf Links and Fisherman's Wharf are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Carmel Beach and Monterey Bay. Check out an event or a game at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and consider making time for Monterey Bay Aquarium, a top attraction not to be missed.
