4WD or AWD needed. Cabin is 1 and 4/10 mile up dirt/gravel road, one lane in places, so not recommended for motorcycles, minivans or 2wd pickups since these have relatively poor traction on dirt/gravel. Views are great near top of the mountain but that means driving uphill to get there.
Located in Whittier, this cabin is in a rural area and in the mountains. Great Smoky Mountains Railroad and The Cottage Craftsman are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Oconaluftee Indian Village and Smokey Mountain Gold & Ruby Mine. Smokey Mountain Trains Museum and Cherokee Botanical Garden and Nature Trail are also worth visiting. Water tubing and rafting offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding and mountain climbing nearby.
