Spare Time Beach House is at the forefront of all the front row homes. Views span from Bodega Head to Jenner and everything in between. You can sleep with the windows open to the sound of the waves. People come to Carmet Beach specifically for the tide pooling and sunset views. Arched Rock, Dragon Rock, Carmet Beach State Park, Salmon Creek State Park & surfers (in the distance) are all visible from the living room, dining room, kitchen and deck.
Situated on the bluff directly above Carmet Beach. 1-2 minute stroll down to either side of Carmet beach. At low tide, there is access to multiple beaches to the south.
The bungalow is curated to anticipate a guest’s every need. A well-stocked, warm and inviting beach house that offers some of the best views on the Sonoma Coast. Wake up to the crisp ocean air, watch remarkable sunsets, gaze at the starry sky while luxuriating in the sparkling hot tub. There’s nothing quite like reading a book, enjoying a meal or a beverage, waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the Pacific Ocean. The rhythm of the ocean will reset even the most frazzled nervous system.
This single story bungalow has maintained the air of a rustic beach cottage while being updated where it's important. Even discerning guests will feel comfortable. Original hard wood floors, plank ceilings, updated modern bathroom, stylish gas fireplace and appliances. Well stocked kitchen with solid slab quartz countertops. New windows and sliding doors throughout. The beach house is solar powered. It provides excess energy to neighboring homes through Sonoma Clean Energy.
Whale season is year round. You can see their migration from the property. Mothers and calves can be seen regularly feeding out front. Guests also love the spacious deck and the opportunity to people watch visitors to Carmet Beach, as well as the waves, whales, dolphins, and sea birds from "the good seats."
The bird-watching from Spare Time Beach House is excellent. There is a local Bald Eagle that graces Carmet and it's typical to see American White and Brown Pelicans, an array of Hummingbirds, Herons, Egrets, Hawks, Canadian Geese, Cormorants, Oyster Catchers and lots of shorebirds regularly.
The property is pesticide-free and proudly becoming a pollinator habitat of California native plants, as invasive plants are being removed and replaced.
If you prefer to pay a little more to not spend your precious vacation among run-of-the-mill, worn out furnishings, this is the home for you. Every detail is thoughtfully selected to help your visit be comfortable and stress free. Just unpack your suitcase and ice chest and settle in. Spare Time Beach House is set up for vacationing in style and comfort. You have frontline ocean views, a fenced/landscaped back yard with sparkling hot tub, firepit table, Adirondack chairs and loungers. The front deck has generous seating choices and a firepit dining table and chairs. Enjoy the coveted "Blue Chair" handcrafted by OW Lee. This sumptuous, overstuffed, bouncy rocker may be the most comfortable piece of furniture you've ever experienced, perfect for whiling away hours staring at the ocean or getting consumed by a great book. If you never leave the property, you’ll still get everything you need from your coastal getaway.
