Our family has been coming to Green Turtle Cay for 25 years; and we have rented many places on the island. Our home is comfortably located steps from the ocean and beach. Chelonia House is centrally located 5 minutes from the town of New Plymouth and 8 minutes from the Green Turtle Club, Bluff House and Brendis Drive shops.
The house has large rooms, and can sleep 10 in beds .New Complete open kitchen and laundry rooms, 2.5 baths, Jacuzzi tub in master bedroom, 60” flat screen TV internet and Wi-Fi, air conditioning and ceiling fans in every room. Outside is a covered front porch. Out back is an open 600 square foot secluded sun deck with a hot tub. The spacious backyard has a fire pit, charcoal grill and childs swing hanging from the large banyan tree . new viewing deck large enough for several people to sit and watch the sun rise or set , beautiful view of the ocean and island , great for relaxing evening cocktail or morning coffee.
Chelonia (Genus) Mydos (Species) – Green Sea Turtle. We named our new vacation home after the Majestic Green Sea Turtle. If you are lucky enough to witness the grace and beauty of these creatures while snorkeling or scuba diving; you will bring home one of several special memories.
As you can see from the photos, Chelonia House is the complete vacation package. Affordably priced, it is steps from the front door to your private beach. Experience the sound and smells of the ocean from the front porch, snorkel right off the shore, relax on the patio and soak in the hot tub.
The complete kitchen along with the charcoal grille will engage the gourmet cook in your group. Or eat out at a different local restaurant every night. And when you finish dinner you can walk the streets of New Plymouth or walk the moonlit beach almost anywhere on the island.
The island people are extremely friendly and accommodating. For this and many other reasons many of the tourists in GTC are repeat customers. The island is relatively small but never feels small; there is always somewhere to go or something to do that with keep your adventure alive. There are two main Yacht Cubs with gourmet dining and many local restaurants with equally gourmet meals. Scuba diving or snorkeling with Brendel’s Dive Center offers a variety of packages. Lincoln Jones or his sun Marcus will take you fishing and cook you a fresh fish dinner at one of the most beautiful beach coves in the world; where you can feed sting rays and sharks out of your hand! If you want adventure you’ll get it “on Little old Green Turtle Cay”. There are several marinas that rent various size boats to get you out fishing or exploring other uninhabited little islands where you can picnic and treasure hunt. Bone fishing as well as deep sea fishing are big on GTC and there are several charter guides to help you get the “Big One”.
The Island Spice band GTC local “Best Band in the Nation” will rock your socks off at least a couple nights during your stay. If you like to dance you’ll get your “boogey on” with the “Roosters”. Leave your inhibitions back home. You can always have fun and get a pool game at Sun Downers bar/restaurant, one of several hot spots on the island.
And if you don’t drink, dance, shoot pool, eat out, scuba dive, walk moon lit beaches, jog snorkel, fish, visit museums and several other great things to do, you can visit one of the many beautiful churches on GTC.
