A speak about a wee toon it stans upon the Clyde, It's a place I wiz born in, It fills ma heart wae pride. Ma mother often told me as a sat upon her knee, how Greenock took it's name, frae the green oak tree. Noo greenock's no a bonnie toon we'll aye hear folk complain, fer when ye come to Greenock it's always sure to rain. But let them say whatever they may, wi them I'll no agree, for I'm proud to say I'm a branch of the green oak tree.
