Shimmering Palms is really a fantastic find! It is one of 7 villas near the end of a quiet lane near the entrance to the prestigious Belmont Estate. Shimmering Palms has 3 bedrooms, all overlooking the beautiful palm grove that hugs the fabulous 1 mile Long Bay Beach, just 3 minutes walk away!
Shimmering Palms is the the 6th of 7 villas. While the villas are close to each other, they are staggered and multi-storied for privacy. The villa has a Mediterranean feel with it's open-plan, split-level living areas, painted in a fresh white with saltillo tiles and wooden floors throughout. Large original art works painted by one of the artistically-gifted owners, decorate many of the walls, lending a brightness, charm and interest that few villas can offer. Surrounded by mature gardens there is color and a tropical scent all around with jasmine, bougainvillea, frangipani, fruit trees and more. The first and second bathrooms have been recently remodeled in a clean, fresh white with colorful accent pieces, modern fixtures and all new plush towels. (Dec '12)
As you enter the villa the open-plan design offers a comfortable office area on the left and a kitchen on the right. The kitchen is equipped with a gas oven, large refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, blender, coffee-maker and more. There is also a dining table with seating for 6. A few steps lead down into the living room where the high cathedral ceilings keep the space cool. Comfortable sofas and chairs provide a relaxing spot to read, chat, play a game or watch the cable TV. Two sets of doors offer access to the wooden deck, where there is ample seating for everyone with a built-in bench, a circular table and chairs which offer some shade beneath a large umbrella, and two larger comfortable chairs with foot rests for those looking for a tan! There is also a Weber charcoal grill.
The first bedroom is accessed up a few steps from the hallway. It offers a king size bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and a balcony where you can open the doors to invite in the cool breezes. There are also split-system AC units in all 3 bedrooms.
The second bedroom is located off the living room and offers a queen size bed, en-suite bathroom with shower, and direct access to the deck.
The third bedroom offers the privacy and convenience of a studio with it's own screened-in porch, it is accessed by steps down the side of the villa and has it’s own small deck area with a couple of sun loungers. This bedroom has twin beds, en-suite bathroom and AC. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BEDROOM IS NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN.
The villa is equipped with wifi and there is cable TV in the living room. There is a phone for local calls and incoming overseas calls.
Shimmering Palms is ideally located on the North Shore....it is a few yards from the Long Bay Beach, and a short walk or drive on (almost) flat terrain to Smugglers Cove and some of the best snorkeling on the island! There are great restaurants in nearby Carrot Bay, Cane Garden Bay, West End and Frenchman's Cay. Grocery shopping is easy at Soper's Hole (10 min drive) as is arranging scuba diving and boat trips. Maid service is once mid-week.
Living here year round, I am up to date on the best boat trips, car rentals, restaurants etc. and am happy to make recommendations or help organise anything that you might require.
