Ready to improve your home’s décor but don’t have the budget for new furniture? Here are fast ways to have a big impact on how your home looks without spending a lot of money.

1. Front Door

The first thing people see when entering your home is your front door. What kind of statement does it make? Replacing the door can be an easy way to update the look but doors are expensive. Why not pick a fun contrasting colour and paint your front door? Fresh paint will make your home look better and a different colour paint can make an impression. You can go dark and dramatic, clean bright white, or pick a bright colour that will give your home more curb appeal. It will draw eyes to your door making your entrance more impressive while distracting from any shortcomings in your home’s landscaping.

2. Lights

From a dramatic light over your dining room table to improved lighting in your bathroom, swapping out light fixtures can give your home lovely features to build your décor around. You can add comfort along with the style by incorporating a ceiling fan that has a lighting fixture. From sunny Florida to the chilly UK ceiling fans are great for reducing heating and cooling costs by improving the distribution of air around the house.

3. Cabinet Pulls

That dresser in your bedroom could be showing its age. One way to quickly update it is to replace the drawer pulls. If you have a bit more time and money, you can paint the dresser to give it an updated and clean look. Replacing draw and cabinet pulls in your kitchen and bathroom can also have a huge impact on your home’s décor.

4. Curtains & Blinds

We spend so much time around our window coverings, we tend to stop seeing them. Meanwhile, they have an enormous impact on your home’s overall look. Changing your curtains or blinds can change the whole look of a room. If that’s beyond your budget, consider decorative ties to pull back heavy curtains and add more light to your room. Lightweight shears can be hung behind curtains or over blinds to add a more delicate touch and make rooms seem airier.

5. Rugs

Rugs are often under appreciated. They can make a room seem cosier and can help to define spaces. If your carpet or other flooring is looking warn or dated, you can even place an area rug over it to hide any imperfections. Area rugs can be anything from neutral to dramatic. Pick a style and colours you love and your room will be transformed.

6. Pillows

Often people pick sofas and other furniture in neutral colours. That’s great for providing versatility or giving you a canvas for creativity. The problem is people then often don’t make use of that canvas. Perk up a boring couch with colourful pillows. Tie in the colours in your window treatments, rugs, and/or artwork. Keep things interesting by swapping out pillows with the seasons. That doesn’t have to be limited to Christmas and other times you normally decorate. Capture the spirit of spring with bright colours and interesting patterns. Celebrate summer with pillows with sailboats, summer flowers, fun sayings, or anything else that makes you think of spring. The important thing is to realize that you can make small changes that can make your home look fresh and appealing.
