MRICS is the highest designation achieved in the built environment sector. Progressing to the chartered membership status has different levels. Candidates can advance through the levels to become MRICS if they obtain the right qualifications and experiences. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors offers different levels of standard qualifications: the AssocRICS, the MRICS and the FRICS. The AssocRICS is not membership status. RICS – AssocRICS qualification
There are many different qualifications which can help a candidate to become an AssocRICS. For example, the NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management is one of the recognised and valuable courses which provides various opportunities. The level 6 course, which is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree offers a direct pathway to becoming an AssocRICS of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors . If a candidate possesses the NVQ Level 6 qualification, then he or she can progress in the AssocRICS path to achieve the MRICS standard qualification. Candidates can also apply to become an AssocRICS by obtaining an RICS accredited degree.
RICS - MRICS qualification
The route to becoming an MRICS is through completing the RICS APC, the final Assessment of Professional Competency. The RICS provides 22 sector pathways, through which a candidate can obtain the MRICS designation. There are two routes through which a candidate can apply for the RICS APC, the Structured Training route and the Preliminary Review path. For instance, if a candidate chooses to study in the HNC Quantity Surveying and Construction sector pathway. He or she can apply for the RICS APC Coaching Services available through the College of Contract Management. The college offers the services through live online lectures and by providing a counsellor to assist the candidate throughout the process. The College of Contract Management in the UK is an approved service provider of the RICS.
