Lilly’s Paradise Cottage is a unique architecturally acclaimed lakefront home on the shore of Lake Michigan in Union Pier. It has 100 feet of private beach and a large landscaped yard of lawn and trees secluding the house from Lakeshore Road.
Lilly’s Paradise Cottage rents only by the week from Monday to Monday from June 22 to early September. $5,000. includes everything.

The two-storied cottage has 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths and It sleeps 8 (firm number, including babies and children.)
The first floor has one bedroom (queen) with direct access to a private bathroom. The second floor has three more bedrooms, two of them overlooking the lake, and one opening to the morning sun. There are two full bathrooms on the second floor.
The upstairs master bedroom (king) has a private bath with a walk-in shower and a separate bathtub on legs. Of the two upstairs guest rooms, one has two twin beds and the other has a queen bed. These guest rooms share a large bathroom with a walk-in shower.
There is an inviting reading nook outside of the guest bedrooms between them and their bath.
The charming kitchen has every pot and pan and utensil you will need. It has a walk-in pantry holding bowls and serving dishes and gives you room for your food and supplies. the owners Fiesta collection is yours to enjoy.
There are three eating areas: a pedestal table in the kitchen (seats 4), a dinning table on the adjacent dining porch (seats 8) and an outdoor deck table (seats 8).You can watch sunsets and the lake from three directions from the dining porch windows and from the deck.
The cottage, Lilly’s Paradise, is named after the owners 15 year old springer spaniel . The Michigan beach house was her absolute favorite place.

The story of Lilly’s Paradise Lakefront Cottage starts with its renovation in 1988. The owners hired Peter Landon, an architect, to transform their gabled, cedar-sided house from a 1920’s vintage cottage to what it is now, a stunning Arts & Craft house, opening it up to lakeside views but retaining its warm wood walls and ceilings.
Landon carved a notch of space out of the original vintage cottage, and installed floor to ceiling windows and transoms to carry sunlight reflecting off the beach into every room and permitting through-house views of the lake. He created a dining room with three sunlit exposures to the lake. He created a TV den and a three season porch over looking the beach as well as a deck for lounging and dining and sunset viewing.
“In remodeling the vacation cottage, the architect, Peter Landon opened up this gabled, cedar-sided house to lakeside views while keeping much of its vintage 1920’s character.†(Quoted from a newspaper story at the time of its building.)

Peter Landon, the architect for Lilly’s Paradise Lakeside Cottage won The American Wood Councils Wood Design Award (1988). The wood award won by the architect, Peter Landon, was a Merit Award given by the American Wood Council's 1988 Wood Design Award Program. The house was one of 12 buildings chosen among 419 National entries.
The house was featured in Metropolitan Home (1990) and Inland Architect (1990) lauding its stunning renovation in the art’s & craft manner.
