My loss is your gain! I booked a week's stay in a studio efficiency (complete with kitchenette!) at the Sand Pebbles Resort in Solana Beach, CA--an oceanside town located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego--and am now unable to use it (Check-in: Saturday, October 24, 2015; Check-out: Saturday, October 31, 2015). You can have it for just $700 (slightly negotiable)--a fraction of the price--all I have to do is switch it into your name instead. (Please Note: This room allows 2 people maximum occupancy.)
The 49-unit resort has nearby beach access, sits approximately one block from Solana Beach's sandstone cliffs and is within very brief (a couple of buildings!) walking distance of bars, restaurants, small shopping centers and (a bit further) even the Solana Beach Farmers Market.
In addition to all standard resort amenities--swimming pool, Jacuzzi, outdoor BBQ, etc.--there are laundry facilities on-site and a National Car rental/Alamo Car rental facility right next door.
But you don't even need a rental car because the resort is just a short train ride (or car or taxi ride) from La Jolla and San Diego (SAN airport - 22 miles) and all Southern California has to offer. In fact, the NCTD 'Coaster' Express (with gorgeous coastal views along the way!) and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train station is only a 12-minute walk from the resort. These trains will take you south to San Diego's Old Town and Gas Lamp District or north to Disneyland, downtown L.A. and more!
And you may not even want to leave the Solana Beach area. After all, the legendary Del Mar racetrack and fairgrounds are just a half-mile away and the town and its neighboring cities provide a wide range of shopping, dining and entertainment choices. Then, of course, there's always the main reason you came--the beautiful California beach nearby!
Reviewers have called this resort "a home away from home" with "beautiful sunsets" and "everything we needed." (In fact, after re-reading all of this, I'm totally BUMMED to have to let my vacation go!)
