THE ONLY HOT TUB IN TOWN...AND MUCH, MUCH MORE! ON OHV ROUTE! HOSTED BY SILVERTON'S MOST EXPERIENCED BACKCOUNTRY GUIDE. Instead of spending your high alpine adventure in a typical Silverton dollhouse, consider choosing the world famous Explorer's Club Southwest, better known regionally as The X-Club (The X-Club is currently being featured on the "Secret Hideouts" section of the backcountry sports website adventurepro.us. Please check out their professional photographs of the club) . The Explorer's Club building was also the original location of the Montanya Rum Distillery and Tasting Room before they relocated to Crested Butte, Colorado. The club is a bi-level open-floor bunkhouse, but it does have ONE PRIVATE BEDROOM and TWO FULL BATHS and SLEEPS 10 GUESTS. The back room is a year-round indoor beach party with a five-person hot tub, a 47 inch full 1080 HDTV, and a large charcoal grill and smoker. Our kitchen is the former bar and a foodie's delight. It has tremendous tile work-space, brand new premium dishware and appliances, and a small commercial dishwasher that cleans a rack of dishes in 90 seconds. Open to the kitchen is the living room with a 55 inch Samsung 4K Ultra HDTV with Bluetooth-enabled home theater system that connects to smartphones. 4K Ultra has four times the resolution of full 1080 HDTV and is powered by a voice-operated Xbox One with with HBO, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Video, and many other apps. There is also a third 42 inch 1080i HDTV with Xbox 360 in the one private bedroom. There are enough game controllers on both game systems to keep a diverse group of kids tranquilized for hours while the adults watch TV quietly and alone in the separate hot tub. The X-Club has 8 quality beds and futons with down comforters, sleeps a maximum of 13 people (but we keep the limit at 10), and is by far the most unique and fun vacation rental in Silverton. Price listed is for the first 6 guests. Add $15 per night for each additional guest and for any dogs.
This Northern New Mexico-style, outdoor adventure/map-themed bunkhouse has spent the last thirteen years as an acclaimed sports pub, rum microdistillery, live music club, grill-it-yourself steakhouse, and outdoor adventure guide service/information center. The building is a 90 second walk to all the best restaurants and bars in Silverton, yet is very soundproof and private with two permanently vacant buildings and a large vacant lot with creek bordering three sides of the property. It's a perfect place for well-behaved dogs...and their pets! A recreational cannabis store is right across the street, and ski/board tuning shop right next door.
The look is Santa Fe meets upscale Alpine hut. The theme is outdoor adventure man-cave filled with raised-relief maps, work-out equipment, multiple Wi-Fi connected HDTVs equipped with DirecTV DVR, Xbox One, Xbox 360, ski/snowboard tuning bench, and a full library of games, ski videos, and outdoor adventure guidebooks. The former bar is being converted to a modern residential kitchen with brand new premium appliances and a separate grilling room with FIVE-PERSON HOT TUB where up to eight people can barbeque in their bikinis and board shorts, even in the winter. Bring your own keg (or kegs!) to hook into the eight-tap draft beer system. One private bedroom with queen bed, an upstairs and downstairs bunking area with two full baths.
There is a fully-enclosed private patio with wood-burning potbelly stove in the back, and a long beautiful upstairs balcony with bar top that overlooks Notorious Blair Street on the building's front. A perfect place to party and watch the 4th of July Parade, February Skijor Races, or the setting sun. You are welcome to smoke tobacco or cannabis in either of these two locations. Vaporizers and vape pens using only cannabis are okay inside. Please no smoking inside the building.
Owner Michael Constantine is a long-time backcountry adventure guide and manager of the highest-rated B&B in Silverton. He is available to help plan your hiking, jeeping, backcountry skiing/snowboarding, and other activities. And he can cook healthy, gourmet meals on-site including his famous sack lunches at additional cost with seven-day advance notice.
The conversion from nightclub to vacation rental will not be complete until the start of ski season 2014, so please excuse the lack of photos until the project is nearly complete.
