Hungry Moose Bar & Grill is located in the beautiful small Victorian town of Silverton, Colorado, at an elevation of 9,318′. You’ll find us a block northeast of the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad train stop on “notorious” Blair Street, next to the Old Jail.
The town of Silverton is steeped in history. Blair Street, known as the town’s “red light district,” gained that distinction in the late 1800’s because of its dense population of some 40 saloons and brothels within a 3 block section of town. In the 1950’s & 60’s, several movies where filmed in town, including “Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid” (1969), “Around the World in 80 Days” (1956), and “How the West Was Won” (1962). “A Great Day in the Morning,” (1956), starring Robert Stack and Raymond Burr, was filmed featuring our building as the “Free State Saloon.”
Set against the picturesque Rocky Mountains, the Hungry Moose Bar & Grill, originally the Bellview Saloon and Boarding House, circa 1899, offers modern conveniences in an old west setting. Come inside to experience the ambiance of a mountain town local hangout with a sports bar atmosphere! Enjoy great food and drinks while watching a game or play your own game of foosball or pool! Or if you prefer, weather permitting, dine outside on our dog friendly deck.
The Hungry Moose has an awesome staff eager to serve you! The owners, Larry and Cheryl, Denver transplants, are very personable and enjoy socializing with their guests!
