Glenn: This Cuban restaurant is located just a couple of blocks away from the Silver Spring Metro Station. From the Smithsonian Station, we took the Blue Line to Metro Center and then took the Red Line to Silver Spring, a trip that took about 20 minutes. Jorge: Cubano's is a nice, quiet restaurant that serves good Cuban food in a nice atmosphere. Glenn: We like the waterfall fountain, it's a nice touch! Jorge: This used to be a Chinese restaurant, and the fountain was purchased in Mexico to add little Latin flavor. The sound of the running water adds to the atmosphere! Glenn: Cubano's does something nice with tostones, serving them as an appetizer -- or a complete meal -- with shredded chicken and a delicious garlic-rich sauce. It's kind of a Cuban version of nachos. Jorge: The ropa vieja here is almost as good as your mima used to make. The meat is slow cooked so that it is very tender. The shredded meat is tossed with pepper, onions, and chopped tomatoes. Glenn: Also notable are the masitas de puerco and the pargo -- red snapper nicely done, and fork tender. Jorge: You get a generous portion of food at Cubano's, especially if you like frijoles negros and white rice, the standard side dish. Be adventurous and order the yuca con ajo, the starchy tuber in a pungent garlic sauce. Raúl: This is a dish your tongue will remember in the morning. Glenn: This is NOT the dish to order if you're on your first date! Jorge: Save room for some tres leches cake or flan for dessert! Best Known For...
