Restaurant Description
How it all began (From the diaries of Lewis and Clark) Lewis… 28 April 1805 …Day of huge discovery. Captain Clark and I were caught in a terrible calamity on the confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers. As our canoe hit a large rock and tossed us into the icy waters. We were rescued by a brave man. We soon discovered he was a man of great talents. His name is Trapper Pierre. He opened his camp to Captain Clark and myself. He provided us with dry clothing, a place to rest our weary bodies, and a meal that we will never forget. It was the most unusual tasty thing I had ever eaten. It was a flat pie covered in a tasty white sauce. I could taste a blend of tender chicken pieces, green peppers, gooey rich cheese and tomatoes. We asked him for the recipe but he told us it was a "secret". Captain Clark decided to call it Pierre's Secret. I call it on of the greatest wonders on earth. Tis a day of friendship and food… Lewis… 5 May 1806 … Day of great decision. Captain Clark and myself decided after endless days of trying to recreate "Pierre's Secret" that we must change the course of our expedition and return to the Confluence of the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers. We must hurry.... We are desperate for the taste of that heavenly pie. Lewis… 10 July 1806 … Day of great joy! Today we returned to Trapper Pierre's camp. We were welcomed by the aroma of another delightful "surprise". The meal was again a flat pie covered in that unforgettable white sauce. This time it mingled with a blend of sausage, mushrooms, and this strange meat called bratwurst. (The Germans evidently were here first) The gooey rich cheese covered the entire pie. It was unreal. The course of history has been changed due to the flat pie we call… "River's End".
