Inhibition of VISTA

Small molecular peptide compounds can be used as T-cell activated immunoglobulin inhibitory V domain (Vista) antagonists. These immune checkpoint inhibitors are expected to be used in the treatment of cancer and bacterial, fungal and viral infections. The peptide can recover IFN-gamma release in peripheral blood mononuclear cells when VISTA, the immunological checkpoint protein, is suppressed and can significantly inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells. It has been found that VISTA can inhibit the differentiation of embryonic stem cells by binding to bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4). As a secretory protein, BMP4 can not transmit signals at the binding sites on the cell surface. But this suggests that BMP4 may play a regulatory role in the VISTA signaling pathway.
