The community you live in can be one of the greatest motivators to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. The people you are surrounded by and the area you live in can be a great boost in the positive direction. Since your health, both physically and mentally is one of your greatest assets, it is essential to not only care for it, but also promote its importance. One of the best ways to promote health and fitness is by helping those nearest to you by motivating them and having them motivate and push you as well. You can say a community effectively cares for wellness several ways. Below are four points that if incorporated within a community, definitively marks it as a health-conscious community.

Health Seminars and Classes

Many communities around the world have a local area that gives classes and seminars about different topics. Of those seminars and classes, if they include how to be healthy and how to live a fit lifestyle, then the community definitely cares about wellness. If not, then you yourself can suggest someone to talk about the rising epidemic of unhealthy lifestyles to help those around you. These seminars are more crucial than you might think. With unhealthy lifestyles, people could go about their life not knowing what is truly good for them and what is not. These nutrition classes or health seminars could teach individuals within the community to take care of what they put in their bodies.

Fitness Classes (or areas to work out in)

A community does not have to have the latest and greatest gymnasiums to display its care for wellness. Numerous communities have relatively small areas in which one can exercise. For instance, classes that are indoors, in an apartment, such as cycling classes, dancing, TRX, boxing/kickboxing, are perfect for upping your exercise game. Also, with a friendly neighborhood, even walking or jogging around a couple of blocks can really contribute to your overall fitness. Parks can also be a great outdoors exercise area, especially if it is for yoga, Pilates, or flexibility lessons.

Healthy Food Providers

We are constantly surrounded by unhealthy food chains that provide food that lacks nutrition and sustenance. On the other hand, with a busy lifestyle, it can be hard to cook meals all the time, especially if they are on the healthy side. Meal prepping can sometimes be forgotten, and we end up giving in and ordering from those unhealthy chains. If the community has healthy food providers, then that can be a perfect way to go, such as those that cater to your specific diet whether it be the latest paleo or keto diet. If there are or aren’t healthy food providers, we can still give in to cravings every once in a while, which isn’t extremely harmful, especially if done moderately. There are ways though to help your body redeem its health; Brad Russell from Nutritional Cleanse (https://www.nutritionalcleanse.com) recommends diet shakes that will help the body get rid of toxins, as a buildup of toxins makes it almost impossible to keep weight off after losing it. No need to fret after taking some of those unhealthy, yet convenient foods as sometimes we need that cheat day to enlighten ourselves. The richness tastes of these diet shakes not only help you cleanse toxins and wash away any harmful effects that occurred from unnatural foods but could indulge your sweet tooth, too!

Working Together to Achieve a Goal (Challenges, Fundraisers, Awareness Campaigns)

Overall, you and your community should work together towards achieving the same goal. This can be through challenges, fundraisers, or awareness campaigns. Some challenges could include weight loss challenges over the course of three to six months for example and the “biggest loser”, if you will, gets a prize. Fundraisers such as walk-a-thons or marathons kill two birds with one stone. One bird is getting people to move and walk or run, the second bird is the cause. You can fundraise to build a wellness center, that huge gymnasium mentioned earlier, or create a local healthy food store. Any of those ideas could truly contribute to and enhance the perceived fitness of the community. Awareness campaigns, like the seminars and classes, are extremely educational. They will create awareness for people that are not in complete understanding of health and fitness. If the community provides any of those then it sure is a fit and health-conscious one!

There are definitely more ways to know if the community cares for wellness. Mere cleanliness of streets and friendliness of people allows for you to live in a healthy and fit lifestyle. Even if it does not include those, you can be the change in the community. Instead of upping and going, create those campaigns and seminars and put in the extra effort, after all, your health really is your wealth.
