Dr. Gillen graduated from Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 with distinction. She did her small animal internship at the University of Illinois a leader in small animal critical care and has pursued a career in emergency medicine and critical care.

Dr. Gillen has worked at emergency and critical care centers in Chicago, New York, and Seattle where she further developed her expertise in critical care diagnosis, recovery and rehabilitation. Eileen has been in a leader in the Central Coast Vet community since 2003. She lives in Santa Ynez and is Chief of Staff of VCA Care Animal Hospital as well as managing all medical services.

Her professional interests include transfusion medicine, feline medicine, geriatrics and rehabilitative/hospice care.
