Why would you want to retire anywhere else than San Diego? I lost my mind for a few years and joined my brother in Arizona to work with him in real estate and lending. I gotta tell you... It's really hot in Arizona! And I never knew there were so many rocks in the world! Flat and brown. HOT!!
Okay, this blog is not about Arizona... It's about why would you live anywhere but San Diego. In my younger days, we had a home on Captiva Island off the coast of Ft. Myers in Florida. It wasn't just hot there, it was HUMID and BUGGY! Now, I'm won't rail on against Florida either because a lot of people back east go there to sweat to death but, I gotta tell you, San Diego is nothing like that.
Not only is San Diego County an incredible place to live but we have wonderful choices when it comes to adult or retirement communities. We have coastal communities where you can enjoy the cool coastal breezes and be minutes from the beach. Or, you can move a little further inland where it's not quite so cool so you can spend a little more time outside without a sweater.
Whether coastal or inland, we have amazing weather year round and sunshine. Oh yeah, I love a sun that I can enjoy! We have golf and tennis and we have the ocean. We have neighborhood restaurants with unique flavors and ambiance. That was one thing that drove me crazy about AZ. The area is so new; all they had was chain restaurants. Everything tasted the same. Plus, we have lots of green grass, flowers that smell so great much of the year and we have the Laguna Foothills with views from almost everywhere.
You may be thinking,"Yeah, San Diego is great but it's so expensive." Hey, I am writing this at the depth of the recession (4/2011 - and I don't care what anybody says, we are still in the recession), San Diego will surprise you how affordable it is.
So, get off you duff and head out to see how much you can enjoy the rest of your life. Check out my website for Retirement homes, patio homes and condos just north of America's Finest City.
