SAN CARLOS – TWO FAVORITE RESTAURANTS
“Great Food, Yet Different Cuisines”
Last year Nicolosi’s Italian Restaurant moved from their Interstate 8 freeway location on Adobe Falls, to Navajo Road in San Carlos. They now are located in the former home of The Fish Merchant, which moved right around the corner onto Jackson Drive in the Kiel’s Shopping Center.
Nicolosi’s is managed by a new generation of the Nicolosi family. With over sixty years of success in the restaurant business, they certainly know how to serve up great Italian food, with service to match.
If there’s one negative about the family-style Nicolosi’s, it’s their portion size! They are HUGE! You can always “split” one of their combo meals and still walk away from the table feeling full. Besides your main course, you start out with the most delicious homemade bread and then a salad, of course. And if you can fit in a dessert, try their cheesecake….it’s delicious!
Be sure to make a reservation on the weekends because they are packed. Their small bar is always overflowing with customers, either from people having a pre-dinner drink or just enjoying a cocktail. Their clientele is a mixture of all ages, including families with children.
The Fish Merchant has moved as well, right around the corner from Nicolosi’s. If seafood is your preference, then this is the place for you. This restaurant is a local, casual eatery with great tasting fresh seafood dishes. Don’t let the size or the location of this restaurant fool you, because the food is delicious. Every day they have “Early Bird Specials” from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and these meals are great choices.
With over 30 years in business and reasonably priced meals, this new location has brought back the friendly atmosphere and the personal service each and every customer expects from The Fish Merchant. Please be aware that this restaurant only serves beer and wine, no liquor.
So if you are in the mood for a reasonably priced Italian restaurant, or a small, quaint seafood restaurant, come to San Carlos; it’ll be worth the drive, wherever you live.
