As a Realtor and a Marina District resident here in Downtown San Diego, I try to keep a sharp eye on the goings-on in the local restaurant scene which is ever changing. The latest great addition to our area is the revamping of the Old Police Headquarters in Seaport Village to "The Headquarters", and wait til you see what Terramar, the developer has done! Five new restaurants have emerged for our enjoyment: Seasons 52 Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Puesto Mexican Street Food and Bar, Pizzeria Mozza and Eddie V's Prime Seafood (scheduled to open soon). I have tried all of them since their mid-November inception and I would like to share my thoughts: Seasons 52 has been a 100% winner each time I have gone. The food is fresh, well-prepared and low calorie (most menu items are under 500 calories). My tip: Sit at the bar, order the "Flights and Flatbreads" Happy Hour special (til 6pm) for $15 and listen to the nightly piano player and singer at the bar. You will not be disappointed. Cheesecake Factory is a nice addition because its menu is just so darn big that EVERYONE can find something they like on it and go away satisfied. The cheesecake itself is to die for. My tip: Try the new "Skinnylicious" menu they have added with low calorie, smaller portion entrees. Great 4-6pm Happy Hour deals at the bar, too. I love Puesto. It is a really happening place and you can get cheap Mexican Street food served really well. There are about 10 varieties of tacos (meat, fish and veggie) and the more you order the cheaper the price (starting with 3 for $11). The lounger area with the TV is a great hangout spot, too. My tip: order the mole appetizer (to share)- it is incredible. Pizzeria Mozza, although it has two famous restauranteurs/chefs' names attached to it and has descended from a successful LA operation, so far has a bit of work to do. Its signature pizzas so far have left something to be desired, as has the service and the wait time for orders to come out. But I want your opinion as well. My tip: Give it a try and defend it. We all want it to work. Enjoy!
