Observations on a Saturday Morning -Marina District San Diego

A few observances on a peaceful Saturday morning while running in my neighborhood in the Marina District San Diego: 1) I don't know about you, but stores, cafes, restaurants, etc. take "Grand Opening" and the signage that accompanies it, way too far. Seriously, how long should a grand opening last- a year? Have your first month of fun then let it go! 2) Speaking of restaurants, I don't think you're fooling anyone anymore when you place that awkwardly handwritten sign on the door that says "Closed for Renovation". Just admit it- you're out of business. 3)Can we please put a stop to any restauranteur's plans to add another gastropub to the Downtown area anytime soon? I guess I may as well add frozen yogurt shop to that, too. 4)Pedestrians- please stop pushing the "cross/walk" button at intersections and then crossing right away! Just because it automatically doesn't magically change for your benefit, doesn't mean you should just go! 5)You out of (Down)Towners- please stop telling me you won't come Downtown because parking is such a problem. You've obviously never been to NYC or Boston by car. A BAD Downtown parking experience for me in San Diego is NOT the inability to find a space, but the inability to find a space that doesn't already have money in the meter. 6) I still can't believe how many homeless people there are walking around San Diego- who seem to have more material possessions than me or my friends. Have you noticed the ones who are pulling around 2 shopping carts full of whatever. It's like a sign of hierarchy or something. God bless 'em for trying. If you know me and my blogs, you know I rant, but you also know that I love you, San Diego, and I wouldn't trade you for anything.YOU SHOULD LIVE HERE,TOO.
