Katie Childress PT, DPT
Clinical Experience: 10 Years
Katie Childress, PT, DPT, is the center manager at Select Physical Therapy?s St Augustine location located at 1690 US1 South Suite A. Katie received her Bachelor?s Degree in Kinesiotherapy from the University of Southern Mississippi where she also received a minor in Psychology and French. She is able to communicate fully with the French speaking population. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of St Augustine for Health Sciences in April 2006. While at the University of St Augustine for Health Sciences, she completed her acute internship at Wesley Medical Center, Outpatient at Physiotherapy Associates in Maryland, and a pediatric internship at Texas Children?s Hospital. Katie also completed her manual training under Dr. Stanley Paris, as well as being a Graston Trained clinician. With 9 years of experience in outpatient rehabilitation in St Augustine, Katie has successfully rehabilitated a wide range of patients with various conditions. She has is currently working at the University of St Augustine as an adjunct faculty assisting with the Prosthetics and Therapeutic Exercise II classes. Also, she is the C.C.C.E. for the Jacksonville market coordinating student placements at all 6 of the Select clinics in the Jacksonville market with PT students from many different universities. She also is a mentor for the University of St Augustine?s Orthopaedic residency program.
Katie?s Vision: ?I am truly committed to the field of Physical Therapy and Wellness. A relationship is made between a physical therapist and the patient. I believe as physical therapists we need to educate our patients as well as their support system on their dysfunction. With education, the patient becomes an active participant in their care. By treating the patient?s dysfunction we as therapists are able to assist the patient in achieving their goals.?
