Mazda North American Operations headquarters is located in Irvine, California. It oversees sales, parts, customer service supports of Mazda vehicles, and marketing for the United States and Mexico. Mazda is a globally known carmaker that has taken the industry by storm and continues to rise above national standards in many aspects. Now, Mazda has decided to take their name and use it to help those who need it. With the second annual “Mazda Drive for Good” winter event will help increase opportunities for charitable donations.
"Mazda Drive for Good started as an idea, a way to bring together the good things Mazda, its employees, its dealers and its business partners were doing in their local community," explained Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations. This amazing idea grew from there and has now been deemed and annual event to help charities everywhere.
Mazda North American Operations has teamed up with NBC Universal to through the 2014 Mazda Drive for Good Charity Event. The event has the purpose of helping communities national wide. The partnerships with non-profit organizations range in missions and receive promotional help from Academy Award nominees like the philanthropist, Minnie Driver. NBC Universal is one of the top leading media and entertainment companies. They produce many productions; offer marketing in the entertainment industry, news, and even more. With actors and actresses of this magnitude, the exposure and publicity that the event receives is phenomenal. Any and all who would like to participate is urged to do so from performing test-drives to upgrading their Mazda.
It was announced that Mazda is offering $100-$150 donations per vehicle that was leased or sold for this year’s event between November 21, 2014 and January 2, 2015. Along with the cash donations, Mazda is offering one hour of labor per test drive of one of their vehicles. The man-hour donation runs the same time period as the cash donation time period, which is November 21, 2014 to January 2, 2014. The charities that Mazda will work with are yet to be announced.
The 2013 Mazda Drive for Good Winter Event was the first of many events to come. During 2013, Mazda donated more than 2.7 million dollars to charities, as well as 56,000 man-hours to help charities. Some charities that were involved were American Red Cross, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Heart Association, and the Mazda Foundation. More charities are looking to be involved with the 2014 event to help cover more area to help those unfortunate.
