Dr. Amy Neligon - RALEIGH, NC

Dr. Amy W. Neligon joined Leesville Animal Hospital in May of 2005. She is originally from Wethersfield, CT. On how she became a veterinarian, Dr. Neligon said she "knew at a young age that animals would play an important role in my life."

She attended the University of New Hampshire and received her B.S. in Biology in 1997. She graduated Magna Cum Laude. She worked at the Wethersfield Animal Health Clinic in 1996-'97 and here at Leesville Animal Hospital, in 1998 before being accepted to veterinary school. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Stillwater OK in 2004.

Dr. Neligon has special professional interests in internal medicine, general surgery, dermatology, and animal behavior. She is a member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.

As a veterinarian, Dr. Neligon takes pleasure in helping pets and their owners, and carries many memories with her, such as the time she performed her first C-section as a solo practitioner that resulted in three healthy pups, or hearing the relieved laughter of a client after safely removing such objects as a pacifier from a dog's intestine.

Dr. Neligon is married and she and her husband Jeffrey share their home with Cody, a Jack Russell terrier; Samantha, a long-haired cat; and a fish named Roezilla. She spends her down time enjoying a nice cup of coffee, catching up with the latest James Patterson novel, and spending quality time with their three children and family.
