Franc Palaia’s work encompasses several media, they include illuminated Photo-Sculpture, hand-colored SX-70 Polaroids, large -scale panoramic color photography, murals, and lamp design. He also makes Photo-Sculptural outdoor works that incorporate solar power and photo-illumination. He has been included in over 300 group shows and more than 35 solo-shows, regionally, nationally and internationally. He has been awarded 17 grants which include the prestigious Rome Prize Fellowship, Polaroid Sponsorship and L.C.Tiffany grant and has curated 14 group exhibitions since 1982 in the Hudson Valley, NYC, NJ, Rome and Torino, Italy. A few exhibitions include the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art annex in New York and in 2011, Franc will exhibit in a group show at the Museum of Modern Art. Franc is the producer and host of a Time Warner Cable and Cablevision TV program called, “Arts Focus”, a 30- minute weekly show focusing on the visual arts in the Hudson Valley. He is currently curator of exhibits at the Poughkeepsie Muddy Cup Coffee House and co-founder of G.A.S. Visual Art & Performance Space, in Poughkeepsie, NY. Group exhibitions include the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, Center for Photography at Woodstock, Vassar College, OK Harris, Newark Museum, Carrie Haddad Gallery, Sidney Janis Gallery, bau, Montclair Museum, Kingston Sculpture Biennial, Albany International Airport Gallery, Alternative Museum, New Museum and many others.
