It has just been remodeled but the ancient floors were kept and now it offers more modern comfort with a nice sofa in the living room, an armchair, international tv channels, wi-fi, and two bedrooms and bathrooms. There is one bedroom with a double bed and a full bathroom on the first floor and the second bedroom with two single beds on the upstairs floor. Upstairs you can also find a second bathroom with shower but be aware that it has a lower ceiling so tall people will find it difficult to shower here. Downstairs there is a fully equipped kitchenette should you want to prepare your own meals with a dining area big enough for four people. An ideal place for an unforgettable stay. In 1580 died here the famous poet Luis de Camões, author of « Os Lusiadas » and in 1920 was born in the same place Amalia Rodrigues, the well-known Portuguese fadista. The area owes even more history, in this very building where the accommodation is, lived Antero de Quental who had had an extensive letter exchange with the famous writer Eça de Queiroz for years. This quiet neighborhood has still many XVIIIth et XIXth century palaces, like the Palace of Bemposta, the residence of the queen D.Catarina de Bragança, widow of King Charles II of England, in the early XVIIIth century. Only 100 mètres away, have a walk in the garden of Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, a green space in the center of the city with a public parking lot. Here you will be surprised by the spontaneous religious fervor of Portuguese people who have honored the statue of doctor Sousa Martins in front of the faculty of medicine for more than a century.
