Windshield Replacement, Is It Necessary?

The vehicle windshield is a fundamental piece for the correct functioning of this complex machine because it has the purpose of diverting the air currents which are produced when it is in movement, while at the same time it protects against the passengers that are inside the car.

It should be noted that the windshield is also the means by which the driver can observe the road he is traveling, having a view that covers the entire street, managing to see all the obstacles that may arise along the way. A defect in the windshield, a crack or a blow can diminish the view that has the driver of the street, being in front of a problem that can generate very serious accidents when being in the movement.

It is for this reason that repairs should be made to windshields that show any type of damage to its structure because this is a fundamental piece for both the operation of the vehicle and the safety of the driver and passengers.

However, there are times when a windshield cannot be repaired, since these present problems that if repaired would generate the vehicle does not comply with the necessary standards to be in motion, needing a windshield complete replacement.

In this sense, the windshield replacement must exist when there are certain factors that make the windshield repair difficult, having as main factors the following.

• The existence of polluting agents
• Cracks of more than one meter
• Very large impacts

Polluting agents

When a windshield has a problem in its structure, there are agents such as water or dust entering the crack or the blow that was formed. This makes it impossible to repair the windshield because when placing the resin to eliminate the problem, it will not work properly and the glass will not return to its original quality.
It is for this reason that it is very important to bring the windshield to repair as soon as the problem is generated, thus avoiding that the aforementioned agents can hinder the repair of said windshield.

Cracks more than one meter long

The cracks in the windshield are very easy to repair if they have the right tools to carry out this work, taking into account that a glass can recover all the characteristics it had when it leaves the factory. That is, in case of vehicles it recovers all its qualities and provides passenger safety.

However, if the crack is more than one meter long, it is not recommended to repair the windshield, because it can be repaired because it cannot be guaranteed that its structure possesses the same qualities as when it was original, being necessary the windshield replacement.

Very large impacts

When a vehicle receives an impact, the windshield is usually the first part affected, it does not matter if the impact was in another place or in the same windshield, in this part of the vehicle a fault is very common, either a crack or an orifice. So, if the problem is very big, the windshield repair is not recommended, just replace it immediately.
