Ford Brings Extensive Sales Experience in Lighting Control Industry and a Distinguished Military Background to this Leading International Manufacturer and Supplier

TEANECK, N.J., Dec. 8, 2009 – Brook J. Ford has joined Encelium Technologies of Teaneck, N.J., a leading international manufacturer and supplier of addressable lighting controls for commercial buildings, as director of sales of the Southeast. A resident of Orlando, Florida, Ford possesses extensive sales experience in the lighting control industry and a distinguished military background.

Encelium manufactures the Energy Control System™ (ECS), the most advanced lighting control solution for commercial buildings on the market. The system reduces lighting use and energy costs at a faster rate than other environmental measures and has an average payback on investment of two to five years. Since the company’s founding in 2001, ECS has been installed in more than 20 million square feet of commercial space across North America and Europe. The company has experienced tremendous growth, posting a 200% annual increase during the last two years.

Prior to joining Encelium, Ford worked in numerous leadership positions with Lutron Electronics in its distribution, residential, commercial systems and window treatment business units helping to significantly increase sales in the Pacific, Rocky Mountain and Southeast Regions. Most recently, Ford concentrated on the military and government vertical markets, helping to specify lighting controls as part of a comprehensive energy reduction strategy in accordance with federal and state legislation.

Ford spent ten years as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army serving with the 19th Special Forces Group, the 101st Airborne Division, 4th Infantry Division and 40th Infantry Division. While on active duty, he deployed to Korea, Saudi Arabia, Haiti and most recently to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2, in which he commanded a 135-man Infantry Company. He has received many decorations, service medals and badges for his service including the Bronze Star Medal, Ranger Tab, Combat
Infantryman Badge, two Army Commendation Medals, and an Army Achievement Medal.

Encelium’s Innovative System
ECS utilizes six distinct energy management strategies. Those include daylight harvesting, which adjusts interior light levels according to available daylight; occupancy controls to turn lights on and off automatically; smart-time scheduling to adjust light where occupancy sensors are not appropriate; task tuning to set default light levels to suit a particular workspace; personal software-based controls for individual occupants to adjust their workspace lighting by need or preference; and variable load shedding, which limits power demand peaks to reduce overall utility costs. The system contributes up to 18 points toward LEED certification and in as many as 4 of 6 LEED categories.

In 2007, Ford received his Certified Sales Professional designation as a distinguished graduate. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Excelsior College in 1996, a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Utah in 1998 and a master’s degree in international relations in 2002 from Troy State University.
