By going through this list you’ll have a much better idea as to what type of water heater is best for you and your home!
Conventional Storage Tank
This is the type of water heater you are more than likely used to, and it’s a very effective type of water heater that helps heat up homes all over the world in an efficient manner, but of course there are some limitations in terms of how much hot water can be stored in the tank and created over a short period of time. One of the main benefits of this tank is that it’s generally more affordable than all the other ones, but you can run out of hot water generally easily with this type of tank.
Tankless Water Heater
This is very new type of water heating technology that has only recently been opened up to the public in recent years, and it’s definitely very trendy right now. Because there is no tank the water is essentially heated through a series of coils, so the water is only heated as you need it, as opposed to be stored in a water tank. This water heater is extremely self-sufficient and is great for the environment, but the downside to this tank is that it comes at a very high price and sometimes requires expensive repairs.
Heat Pump Heaters
This is somewhat of a hybrid between the previous two types of water heaters, and what it does is it heats up water by using the heat in air and under the ground. A really great feature of this type of water heater is that it uses a tremendously less amount of electricity for normal operations and it doesn’t require all that much maintenance. A con to this water heater is that it’s typically not best for people who live in cold climates and it tends to be rather expensive.
Solar Powered
By drawing in energy from the sun, this water heater heats up water in the most energy-efficient way possible. It utilizes a loop system to be conducive with the heating materials in the solar panel and then in to the water tank. Ultimately you can save a ton of money by using this type of water heater because it will save you a bunch on your monthly bills, but it is generally best in sunny climates and does require high initial investment payments.
Condensing
What’s interesting about this water heater is that it utilizes the gas fumes that your home doesn’t use in order to heat up water. If your home uses natural gas for your primary energy source then this is definitely a really great option for you. This can be a pretty energy efficient type of water heater too, especially if you’re primarily using natural gas like a lot of homes are these days.
