Cholesterol Ester Transfer Protein (CETP), also known as the plasma lipid transfer protein, is a plasma protein that promotes the exchange of cholesterol esters and triglycerides between high density proteins (HDL) and apolipoprotein B100- containing lipoprotein particles. The concentration and activity of plasma CETP correlate with the concentration of HDL-C and is also used to predict the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events.
