ViewPoints 2015 by Studio Montclair and Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art

Studio Montclair’s 18th Annual Open Juried Exhibition, “ViewPoints 2015,” features the work of 105 artists from all over the United States, along with artists from Japan, Canada and Norway. The exhibition will run from June 4 to June 30, 2015, at Aljira, A Center for Contemporary Art, the event co-sponsor, located in the heart of Newark’s arts district at 591 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey.
The opening reception and award ceremony on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 6 to 9pm, is expected to welcome hundreds of art lovers, collectors, curators and artists from around the region.
In discussing all art as a continuum “within its extraordinary variety of styles and technical developments,” juror Jeffrey Wechsler observed that “art, after all, is a human expression, and as such, will reveal perennial truths and individual ideas, in varying proportions according to each artist's vision.”

Art lovers will find a fine percentage of realistic imagery, with nature and portraiture well represented, with some work recalling styles of prior times perhaps now heightened by technical effects. They will discover, as did the juror, “unplanned subsets of subject, concept and technique.” There are also the surprises that come when the artist has followed new and imaginative paths.
