6-bedrooms surround a fireplace living and dining area in this unique historic stucco farmhouse--one of the 20 original houses in New Hope, Pa.(Bucks County.) Called A Wishing Well, the house dates from Civil War days when New Hope was a stop on the Underground Railroad.
The house literally "speaks" to guests with cozy, comfortable accommodations and a distinct aura of being a part of the area's Revolutionary past. Strangers enter and instantly feel welcomed and "at home." Details of the old house such as stone walls, random-plank pine floors and wood beams have been restored and maintained.
The acre of ground still preserved from the old farm backs to Ingham Creek where Lenape Indians settled the land thousands of years ago. The grounds are a short drive from Ingham Spring near Aquetong, the tribal meeting spot for Lenapes in the tri-state area.
Purchased from the Native-Americans by William Penn, the area still contains the families of its original settlers dating back to the 1600's. The area is surrounded by museums that tell the tale of those early days in America and are rich in beauty and nature, with many walking and biking trails. Waterways and river fronts plod by the Indians are available today for rafting, boating and picnicking.
