A strength training exercise routine is not what workouts women usually tend to do. Without any guidance from a personal trainer NYC and with some very limited knowledge of fitness most women will likely go for the walking plan combined with dieting to get in-shape just in time for whatever event is around the corner.
Did you know that if you just combined aerobic exercise and dieting from a moderate diet, not crash diet program, and left out the strength training exercise regimen 25% of the weight lost will be muscle? Yup! 5 pounds of your 20 pound loss will be muscle.
That’s a huge problem if you want to address your metabolism, the girth around your middle and the jiggle in your arms.
Let me remind you that this is from a moderate diet.
I can’t imagine what’s going on there with those who chose the surgical weight loss band method for weight loss. Yikes!
For some of you who think you can do it on your own….You don’t know what you don’t know.
Before being a personal trainer in NYC I was a size 18 and my size 18 wardrobe started to become snug on me when I had made a leap of faith to hire a female trainer.
I didn’t think weight training was for me since I was a plus size woman and I thought I’d get bigger doing it. I was so very wrong.
I’m here to tell you that strength training exercise is vital in getting what you really want.
When I talk about strength training exercise what do I mean?
It can also be called resistance training. Resistance training is an exercise program that incorporates exercises that create muscle contraction from an external resistance.
That external resistance can be from dumbbells or weight machines. You can use rubber tubing/resistance bands, or even bodyweight. Those are the basic pieces of equipment that I personally use when I design my Curvy Goddess Workout.
I also like to use weighted balls and the Pilates ring and I avoid most weight machines except for the cable machine.
Here is a brief list of some benefits and we will get into some detail in future articles.
Incorporating a strength training exercise routine will:
1. Not only help you lost fat but it addresses bone loss issues
2. Increase your strength so you’re able to lift and carry heavy loads and move more easily throughout your day
3. If done correctly will prevent injuries
4. Help decrease blood pressure if you have moderate high-blood pressure
5. Prevent back problems and improves posture
6. Increase your stamina and energy
So that was a very brief list of benefits and one more thing that I should have added is that incorporating a strength training exercise program empowers you. It’s not just a physical change that’s happening, Curvy Goddess. If you don’t believe me and super curious about the empowerment factor, try it.
