Join us for an opening reception on Sunday, September 13 from 1 to 4 pm. This exhibit is the third in SMI’s Community Partnership Exhibition Program created by cofounder and past president Virginia S. Block. The partnership aims to reach out to other nonprofit organizations each year to create a collaborative exhibition designed to inspire our members, create new connections, and reach new audiences. This year we have partnered with Freespace Dance to produce an exhibit inspired by the human body and movement. Curator, Virginia S. Block commented “This year’s program became exceptionally challenging due to the coronavirus pandemic, which placed unforeseen restrictions on in-person interactions. Luckily, Freespace Dance was able to offer our members access to their online video archive. The submissions were substantial in number, comprising all mediums and genres. Our members never fail to dazzle us with their diverse creativity of interpretation and new use of materials in their art.” This will be SMI's first in-person exhibit since March. We will be following strict guidelines for indoor gatherings, masks will be required, and the number of people in the gallery will be limited. We plan to have an outside element at the reception. An online tour of the exhibit including audio will be available on our website.
