Waterside Villas Offers Apartments, Amenities at Affordable Rates
MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J., Dec. 15, 2010 - Strong leasing activity at Waterside Villas, a luxury apartment community, is evidence of a growing demand for housing catering to the over-55 market. Graying baby boomers no longer want a house and property to tend. Rather, they want to continue enjoying active lifestyles and more opportunities for recreation and socializing without the burden of a mortgage, according to Kathleen Masi, Executive Director at Waterside Villas.
A key to Waterside's success is its' sensitivity to today's economic climate. Seniors are very price conscious when choosing a new home, ranking it high among their priorities, which also includes design, amenities, and comfort. At Waterside Villas, rental rates are "very competitive," explains Masi. There's a waiting list for the studio apartments, starting at $900. The community is offering a special incentive to lock in rates for 2011. Until January 31, 2011, select one-bedroom apartments are being offered for $1,200 for annual leases only, which includes utilities.
The Waterside Villas complex was specifically designed for mature adults. The apartments offer a variety of options and layouts to suit individual needs. Floor plans range from 495 square feet to 1,200 square feet, with some featuring dens and balconies. "Some residents prefer the large walk-in closets, or the master baths with walk-in shower stalls," Masi said.
Additionally, amenities abound at Waterside Villas where a full-time activities director coordinates services and monthly programs for residents. Scheduled transportation is offered to take residents to supermarkets, shopping centers, and banks, as well as planned excursions to casinos, museums, and cultural venues. Amenities that add to the comfortable surroundings include concierge service, housekeeping every other week, fitness center, computer lounge, onsite library, daily continental breakfast, a dining plan option, and a wellness suite.
A new schedule of activities is posted monthly with opportunities for residents to stay active and healthy through on-site fitness programs, cooking classes, and social and cultural events. The community is pet friendly and there are even activities involving the pets. Also, many programs are open to the general public.
"There is a growing market for senior housing, and the economy is definitely playing a factor," observes Masi. "I've met so many people that had homes to sell, and if the economy had been better, we probably would have 20 more families in this building. Unfortunately, they can't get out of a home at this time." The people coming to Waterside have different reasons for choosing an adult community, but what they enjoy most is the upscale setting and convenient lifestyle. According to Masi, "They want to be more mobile and free to do things such as travel." Consequently, some residents take advantage of the flexible short-term stay option. Whether it's a respite for the holidays or to test the waters before making a move, Waterside Villas meets those needs for older adults.
