This lovely cabin in a private setting is spacious yet has a warm rustic feeling. Built in the 1940s, it has a stone fireplace, maple hardwood floors, pine walls, a cathedral ceiling in the living room with a cozy sleeping loft on the mezzanine, plus two bedrooms on the main level with queen beds. There is a separate dining room that seats 6 and a breakfast room off of the kitchen. The wraparound porch has chairs and a large round table for dining or just sipping coffee.
It is surrounded by a very large open lawn with mature trees and looks out at a riding stables. You can sit on the large wraparound porch or walk over to the stables and take a trail ride or riding lesson in the large indoor arena. Pony rides are also available for children. The beach is a short walk, or drive for 1 minute, park in our private spot, and walk around the corner to the beach.
The decor has been thoughtfully created by a Chicago designer and builder to be unique yet comfortable.
This home has a new 95% efficiency furnace and central air, newer appliances and is very well maintained. Pets are welcome. Email for details.
The surroundings : This home sits on a large lot and is surrounded by trees. You can see the riding stables across from the private drive. Guests can take trail rides, children can have pony rides, or just visit and bring them carrots. They are very people friendly. The beach is a short walk from the cabin, and we provide private pkg around the corner from the stairs to the water if you choose to drive for the two minutes it takes to get there.
Restaurants and shopping: There is a very nice grocery store down highway 12, which takes all of 10 minutes to get to by car. If you drive another 5 minutes, you will arrive at Light House Mall, a very large discount mall with national retailers. You can also shop and dine in New Buffalo, Michigan, which is 10 minutes in the other direction on highway 12. There are boutiques and Chicago quality restaurants in town and further up along 12, or you can head into the quaint restored town of Three Oaks to see theater, art galleries, shop, or dine.
